But sometimes, you want to take a break from the norm and experience something truly unique. Whether you want to add some education to your trip or need something to do to avoid the rain or heat, St. Pete museums are always a great idea.

Museum of Science and Industry

The Museum of Science and Industry, sometimes abbreviated as MOSI, is an incredible destination for guests of all ages. There are more than 100 activities for you and your family to enjoy while you’re here! Check out unique attractions surrounding space, physics, dinosaurs, and more. See a show in the Saunders Planetarium or see how you fare on the Sky Trail Ropes Course. 

Visit MOSI at 4801 East Fowler Avenue. They’re open daily all year long (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $12.95 for adults, $10.95 for seniors (60+), and $7.95 for kids (3-12), and free for kids 2 and under.

Great Explorations Children’s Museum

At the Great Explorations Children’s Museum, you’ll find a fantastic destination designed for every child, regardless of age or ability. This hands-on learning environment encourages kids to play, learn, and grow however they see fit. Little ones can enjoy an augmented reality sandbox, a massive Lego Wall, an immersive farm, a TV recording station, and so much more. 

Great Explorations Children’s Museum is located at 1925 4th Street North. They’re open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Admission costs $12 for adults, $11 for seniors (55+), $15 for kids 1-17, and free for kids under 12 months.

Glazer Children’s Museum

Another ideal attraction for kids is the Glazer Children’s Museum. The goal of this museum is to encourage a love of learning that your kids will carry with them throughout their lives. Here, kids can pretend to be anything from an artist to a banker, farmer, musician, cashier, vet, or whatever else they please. No matter what your kids’ imagination can dream up, it can come to life!

Visit the Glazer Children’s Museum at 110 W Gasparilla Plaza in Tampa. They are open Tuesday through Friday to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission costs $16 for all (except babies under age 1 get in for free). 

Museum of Fine Arts in St. Pete

Looking for something geared a bit more toward adults? Consider the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. The collection here is truly something to be admired, and you can take as much time as you like to soak it all in. You’ll find pieces in the permanent collection and rotating exhibits that change throughout the year. They also offer youth and adult programs if you’re seeking a hands-on experience.

The Museum of Fine Arts can be found at 255 Beach Dr. NE. Their hours are as follows:

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Dali Museum

Art lovers will also enjoy the Dali Museum, where you can see an incredible collection of works by Salvador Dali. The permanent collection features prints, paintings, photos, and more. They also feature rotating exhibits that highlight the works of other famous painters from throughout history.

The Dali Museum is located at 1 Dali Boulevard. They are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for Thursdays, when they stay open until 8 p.m.
